Is this some kind of P-bass? I know diddly-squat about vintage instruments. I thought it was a straight P-bass at first. But it looks like there's some big soapbar by the bridge, or is that just a sticker?....

It's a Precision. That's not a "huge soapbar"--it's a black sticker or black tape, as you suspected.

its not a pickup its some kind of sticker I think. p-bass with stickers. mc5 were the coolest back in the day. drugs suck kids

Yeah, in the earlier video (for Kick Out the Jams) the way the light hits it, it looks like a soapbar with a P/U selector. But in this video you can see it a lot clearer.

MC5 were the deal, end of story.
