What kind of a bass is this one??
Can someone tell me what kind of bass this is. I think a Teisco because of the shape, the one element placed up to the neck and the blocked ivory-like inlay of the neck. the brigde misses a chrome cover. i would like to know what brand and type it is because i want to restore it!
and is there a way, besides ebay, where i can finds parts for vintage japanese basses, like a neck, elements, bridge cover, etc?
It could also be a kmart bass. Believe it or not they sold electric basses and guitars during the 70's. I dont remember if some where made by teisco, but was solid wood bodies and overall good build. overly high action on the basses as main thing I didnt like. One I lusted after back then was strat like guitar with no pickgaurd. Instead had great scene of horses carved into the body where pickgaurd would have been. Clear medium dark wood finsh. They had basses like the one in your pics to. Being actual wood bodies on lower price stuff was still somewhat common back then for makers wanting to give buyers better then plywood. I think most of the kmart electric guitars and basses was japanese made. On par with the best basses and guitars Sears carried around christmass time in christmass catalog. But those was gibson clones.
My dad had one for a short time. It was labeled Kignston.
Here's a 2-pickup version:
thank guys! does anybody know if there are still parts i can buy besides ebay?
