I have a recent production SR700 and my brand new battery crapped out after less than an hour of playing. |

The preamp only draws a couple of milliamps worth of current! |

However, I tend to unplug the jack whenever it’s not being played — even between sets — so I’d expect a slightly shorter life if I wasn’t so vigilant.
But yeah, what Bass-Adrenaline said: an hour on a new battery is indicative of a short. Indeed, the “screaming cat” noise can be quite scary if you’ve never experienced it before.

Given, I plan on doing it soon, because I'm afraid of it crapping out in a gig, but no problems thus far.
