What kind of battery life are you getting with your Ibanez basses?

I have a recent production SR700 and my brand new battery crapped out after less than an hour of playing.

Odds are you have a short somewhere.

Or your leaving your bass plugged in.

That might be true since the bass started making a god awful noise right before it died. It sounded like a screaming cat. I put a new battery in and it's working again.

IDK thats why I use Durracell, I find it to last the longest. It usually lasts me about 6 months with about a hour a day actually plugged in.

You should be able to get at least a year out of your batteries.
The preamp only draws a couple of milliamps worth of current!

SR535 here. Battery gets changed once a year.

Even with many hours of use every week, my batteries always last well over a year. Even when they are going bad, they always slowly get 'dirtier' sounding and weaker as opposed to dying.

I’ve been averaging 9-10 months on my EDB605 that sees very frequent use. However, I tend to unplug the jack whenever it’s not being played — even between sets — so I’d expect a slightly shorter life if I wasn’t so vigilant.

But yeah, what Bass-Adrenaline said: an hour on a new battery is indicative of a short. Indeed, the “screaming cat” noise can be quite scary if you’ve never experienced it before.

I thought my GK amp had taken a puke.

I have a BTB with the 18v preamp, and I've had the thing for two years, bought it used, and I've never had to change the battery. Given, I plan on doing it soon, because I'm afraid of it crapping out in a gig, but no problems thus far.
