What kind of Fender is this

Sign in to disble this ad
This bass is for sale in iceland and i am trying to find out if the asking price is fair.
https://bland.is/messageboard/messag...advid=26059990
The asking price is c.a. 3000 USD.
Does anyone know the type, I am unable to find anything about this bass on the Fender site?
One thing I notiched is that the jack plug is not mounted on the front of the bass, that is rather unusual for a Fender Jazz?

Regs.

Gorgeous finish. I'm not sure. The first thing I thought was Fender Jazz Active 5 string (without S switch so a little older).

I'm sure this will be answered in certainty in about two minutes.

Are there some import fees associated with Fender basses in Iceland? 3K USD is a lot for a Fender, except if it's old, rare, and maybe custom shop.

Looks like a US Jazz deluxe. But I'm no expert. If that is what it is that price is probably double what a new one would have been. But again, I could be wrong.

I always wanted to go to Iceland...

I am not aware of any special fees but the Icelandic currency is very week after the financial crash here :-(
So we must pay that much more

That's a Fender USA Deluxe Active Jazz 5-string. My guess is that it's from around 2006/2007, but you can check that if you get the serial number from the owner. $3000 is waaaaaaaaay to much for a bass like this. It was about $2000 new (well, at least here in Holland it was).

Agreed that 3K is way too much, even if it's American made. It looked like the ad said it had a Pau Ferro neck. I thought the PF necks were installed on the Mexican made Fender's and if so, you can get a MIM Deluxe like this for $799 USD on ebay.

Were there no more photos offered? If I could see closeup pics of both sides of the headstock I could tell you what country it's made in and what year. There are Fender MIA, MIM and Squier Deluxe Jazz's on ebay, even as we speak (type).

I'd stay away from that one!

It's definitely a USA. The Mex deluxes and Squiers had a regular Jazz Bass body shape, but the USA models had a slimmer body. This one has the slimmer body shape.

It's an American Deluxe for sure. I have no idea of the price of gear in Iceland but I know that it's one of the most expensive places in the world to live

So then they make some MIA Fenders with Pao Ferro necks? I've only seen them on the MIM 5's.

Yes, these USA Deluxes had Pao Ferro I don't know if the newer Deluxes (big logo, regular body shape, block inlay etcetera) have that option.

Yep, American Deluxe.

Nope, terrible price.

You can get one for $700-$1000 on Ebay, VERY easily. Colors varied, but yep...pretty common.

and it's too expensive maybe because this model is discontinued or the specs have been changed. i mean the body is different than the 2011 ones.

Or it's too expensive because the seller thinks he has something worth $3000 when he absolutely does not.
