What kind of Pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
So. I've got this bass. Soon, I'll be refitting it with a p bass pickup. So, time for a new pickguard. My chance to... spice this bass up I guess. What color do you guys think would look best on it? Should I stay with the white? Or maybe pearloid or cream pearl? All suggestions welcome. (I'll be keeping the chrome hardware, i.e. bridge, control plate, tuners.)

I'll agree with Snyderz on this.....leave it as is. I thought about peraloid for a second, but decided I'd get tired of it after a while.

haha. y'know, i probably would get tired of it too... it seems a little flashy, espicially on this already beatiful finish... i'd rather get people's attention with my insane skills than a shiny pickguard

I think mint pickguards are very underrated. It's not flashy but looks so much nicer than plain white.

If you feel you must replace it, I would go either black/white/black or tortoise-shell.

I agree with mint, or as is - especially if it has a maple fingerboard. Otherwise Tort is nice with a rosewood board.

If you put a maple fretboard neck on it, the b/w/b would be awesome, I think.

Actually, I take that back. Without trying to come over too much like an interior decorator; that burst ends in brown, doesn't it? Not black? Maybe b/w/b wouldn't look so good then...

If you want to send me a pic of the bass "straight on" (like on the Fender website), I'd be happy to Photoshop some different pickguard colors for you.

Send me a PM in interested.
