What kind of rosewood on a 1968-72 Fender Jazz Neck?

I have a neck that had the heel writing sanded off long before I bought it. Using a bunch of books (The Fender Bass, etc). I've been able to narrow it down to roughly 1968-1972 based on other characteristics. (Tuners, Decal, etc)

I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of Rosewood would have been used for this neck? i.e. Brazilian, Indian,

Someone posted a beautiful picture of a Brazilian Sadowsky with MOP inlays and it looked kind of like mine (except mine has dots). Piqued my curiosity.

I doubt it would be Brazilian rosewood. Fender seldom used it after the early to mid 60s. Post some pics

I have a 69 P bass , Im fairly certain its brazilian, has that swirly verigated color to it. Looks just like the early 60's boards I've seen.

I doubted it too, but then when I did a quick search it seemed most necks of this vintage were described as Brazilian.

I'm really happy with this bass and love it no matter what it's made out of. But that picture on the Sadowsky thread got me wondering.

If its a late 60s, early 70s neck it has to be a P-bass neck. The jazz basses from this period had block inlays. Looks to me that if its a Jazz neck its a 65-66. Do you have more pics of the head and the tuners?

Oops. Right you are. It is a P-bass neck. But I use it on a Jazz body so I always think of it as a Jazz. Sorry I left off that vital piece of info

Yes. (Man I am scatterbrained lately. Maybe I should take up drums . . . )

Nice neck. The fretboard should be Indian rosewood in that era. And I think you're right about the 68-72 dating.
Very good necks IMO.

Probably Indian. Dates sound right, too, but could have been up to even '73 maybe?

I think there was a characteristic of the tuners that changed in 73 that this neck doesn't have.

I agree about Indian after looking at the neck, the pictures, and a guitar I have that I know is rosewood.
