What kind of wood is this?

Just curious. The manufacturer site doesn't tell what wood is this.

ash for sure.
could be alder...but the grain has more ash like feature than that would.

Ash normally has a larger and more open grain with significant curvature and less straightness than what we see here. I would like to know what this is too.

It looks like a Chinese bass and that would be Paulownia... The stuff looks a lot like ash... Check out Gilmer Woods (dot com) for a blank for $120.00... It's regarded as a superior wood in China and it just happens to grow like wildfire...
