What kind of wood is this? The auction says it's exotic wood of some sort. Ibanez Roadster.

IMO It looks a lot like paint swirl in the pics. Judging by how the front and back grain do not match at all in terms of direction or shape. But I am viewing from an iPhone

I kind of wondered about that - it didn't really look like wood grain.

I'm thinking that's not wood grain. IIRC, that bass would most likely have a slightly/moderately flamed maple top over something pretty nondescript.

I'm thinking that's a great finish.

It looks like that plastic shrink wrap that you can get.

Would love to see this bass in person. The grain look is awesome, but almost has a graphic quality to it.

Unless you can get it in your hands with a magnifying glass, it would be hard to tell.

Groovy. My guess is it isn't wood, but I faux finish. Nothing wrong with that. I have a Carlo Robelli 6 string that has a faux finish and it's the nicest finish of all of my basses! http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...OIO8lQeA6JWIBA

BTW, this bass cost less than $300! For a 6!!! I had to replace the crappy pots but other than that it's sounds and plays great. And looks great. And did I mention it's less than $300?

Sorry, didn't mean to digress. Just sayin...I have no prob with non finishes, and that Ibanez is a nice one.

I'm thinking it's a really figured ash and the stain made the grain darker. It sure does look like swirls in a painted finish though, huh?
