what is the lightest bass before it becomes neck heavy

I know most people like light guitars and basses. What is the lightest bass you have seen that wont fall all of the time on the strap. I hate a guitar that is neck heavy and always wants to fall to the floor while around your neck.

This is a function of design as well as weight.

If the strap geometry is right, you can have a pretty light bass and no neck dive.

Design also affects perceived weight.

I've seen some geek basses that were not only light, but seemed even lighter, largely due to a longer upper horn, and no neck dive.

that depends on a few things , neck and tuner weight , upper horn , offset balance . A good suede strap or one that is kinda tacky or clingy for lack of a better word will help counter it .

6.1 lbs, no neck dive. As above - depends on design and execution

+1

I use a very wide suede strap on a Renaissance RB-4 (hollow body w/a single cutaway body) and neck dive isn't an issue for me, even w/loose shirts.
