Theres this MIA fender jazz going for 765 at my local store. It is used, but the condition is fine with no major dings.
It has 'made in usa' written on its headstock, and its white on white w rosewood board, pretty much like a standard jazz except for the fact that its pickguard goes all the way down to the vol/vol/tone knobs. There is no control plate so to speak of, and the knobs are all in white color with numbers printed on it... like those stratocaster knobs.
May I know what model is it? and how is it a good deal?

| | | | Without seeing pictures, I can't make a judgement. If I do remember correctly, around 1983 or so, Fender did do a Standard Jazz Bass model with a solid one piece pickguard versus the traditional pickguard with a separate metal control plate. That version was U.S. made. |

THis thread might help. http://www.fender.com/community/foru...c270bf547c63ea

Their "white" that year was more of an egg-nog color. If it's white white, I don't know what it is. |

| | | | Well... the fender company puts out innumerable variations on the same two styles of basses every year. You're just looking at a MIA Jazz Bass that may have been built like that originally or (and less likely, but possible) been customized by the previous owner (pick-guards are easy to craft).
Speaking from experience and what I've been hearing from fellow bass players, save yourself more money and head the MIM route. They can be a little quirky about fitted parts, but if you're just looking for that JB sound it does it; on the cheap and some would argue... better than the MIA's.
Personally? I would save up a few hundred more bucks and go for something a little better crafted like the Carvin Icon Series. for around $1,200 you can get a neck through four string that is what I consider "buying up". I own a five string model that makes me desire a four in the worst way. Another company to consider if you want a really nice instrument at around the $750-$1000 range is Yamaha... but word of caution here; once they stop making a model it might be very hard to find the exact replacement pieces for your instrument. I own two and they have been work horses though.

| | | | To be honest, I dont intend to buy the bass for playing....dont get me wrong, its feels good and has a warm tone. I thinkin of re-selling it for a slight profit.
Im sorry, aint got no pics right now since the bass is w the owner. Thanks for the advice... |

They said Squier Series on the bulb end of the headstock. Alot of people would sand those off for some reason. If it's a black labe Fender look at the bulb end of the headstock. Especially if it's palin with no print there. Likely you will find a slightly lighter color where they sanded it off.
