what pickguard color for a Jazz Bass with 3Color Sunburst and Maple Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
I love 3 Color Sunburst and the bass has a Maple Neck with black dots. As I didn't like the white pickguard (I think it looks too blank or a bit like a dead space) I mounted the classic tortoise pickguard. Now I think the contrast in between the dark body and the light neck (as it doesn't have the black 70s block) is quite harsh. I'm thinking of mounting a white pearl pickguard but couldn't find any picture of that set up.
1)Can anyone help and post a picture
2) what is your general comment - what would you recommend - maybe you also have a completely different idea
I welcome your feedback

If you're not doing the tort, I'd go black or cream.

I agree, I think cream would look nice without being "typical".

I put a maple neck with pearl blocks and white binding on a sunburst jazz body with tort guard, looked great to me.

Clear. Why cover nicely finished wood?

Tort would be my first choice as well. However, since you already tried that and don't care for it then I would go with black. It will tie in well with the black dot inlays on the neck.
