What pickups / bass is this?

Hello!

http://cdn.seymourduncan.com/blog/wp...ones-on-it.mp3

Listen to the 1st 15 seconds!!

The most beautiful bass sound I have heard!

What Pickups do you think it could be?

Im thinking its prob through a tube amp!

Can i replicate this sound simply through pickups and my GK amp?

I'm sure a lot of basses could sound like that.

That to me is the sound of a bass...
...with quite new strings?
...maybe with a pick?

To me its a picked PB with new strings (my Olimpias sound similiar)

Of course the sounding is a matter of lots of things. The pickup is definetly set higher, and the settings are set for more middle channel

Well, it's called "Put Mayones On It" and it was uploaded on the Seymour Duncan website. So it's probably a Mayones of some kind (I guess passive) with Seymour Duncan pickups. Through a tube amp. Or a simulator.

If you play it loud enough, with new strings, not too much EQ-ing, through a tube amp with a little drive, sure

Sounds like a bridge position humbucker, to me, with fresh strings, played with a pick and a with bit of distortion mixed in.

Strings? Rounds, they definitely aren't flat or tape wounds, no matter how new. Agree most likely using a pick, pretty close to the bridge. The grit could be amp or pedal, or digital recording plug-in, or any combination, lots of stuff will get you close. What type of bass is hard to say, but since the clip is from Seymour Duncan's web site, I'd bet good money on a Duncan pup of some kind.
You might consider a google search on the title "put-mayones-on-it" YouTube seems flooded by contest entries. Or contact Seymour Duncan for detailed info.

The B3K can give you the dirt you need.

What's your bass? it seems like at the most you should be a set of rounds and a pick away from getting this sound...

Presumably you have a bridge pickup so you should be good to go..?
