What is the reason of the imbalance between string to string volume?

Sign in to disble this ad
I own a Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5 Strings, and in certain circumstances this occurs, there are gigs where they are balanced, and on other occasions I can't hear mostly D and G.. at home with my rig it lacks JUST A LITTLE that balance.. i've realized this with several basses..

There are specific reasons? Pickups poles misalignment maybe? In my Warwick only E A D are perfectly aligned!

Sounds more like and amp issue, and also your proximity to the amp/speakers.

Every room/club will sound different due to the room acoustics.

Also depending on how close you are to your amp when you notice the differences.

You're rigth, but also i think it's kind of an issue from the bass.. i don't know exactly what, but i guess is something about the pickups poles aligment, or the construction.. not sure.. anyone had realized this?

Setup including pickup adjustment. Could be amp or bass settings. Could be the bassist and bass not really coming together. It happens.

And no, that is not saying you can't play.

Try this next gig or even at home: Turn the amp up as loud as you'll be playing it, with no EQ tweaks. Don't tweak the EQ on the bass either, just turn it up. See if anything is still hard to hear.

Had that problem Sunday at service, the B & E strings were louder than the rest, So I lowest the pickup on the B side just a little. Fix.

Yes actually the bass is properly setup and has fresh strings.. i'll try to low the B side of the pickup.. but I've heard from some bass builders i can't remember which, that they worry that their basses don't have this issue as "other brands"

Adjust your bridge saddles if the strings arent aligned perfectly with them, but be careful not to upset the saddle height. They should follow the radius of the fingerboard.
I agree with the others, who say it's simply set up.Warwicks are one of the most adjustable basses on the market, you'll get it right,I'm sure.
If it becomes a battle of wills,we have alot of set up info & collective knowledge at the Warwick forum.Your username looks familiar,so I think you've already joijned up.
Cheers mate,
Greg.
