What is recommended for a 32" scale bass?
I've been playing a Kubicki X-Factor for the last 22 years. It's 32" scale makes it tough to get used to playing a longer scale bass. I love my Factor but would like to have a reliable second bass that may be fun to play. I can't find a list of basses that are 32". Does anyone know of any?
I had a cheapo ibanez acoustic that was 32". Very comfortable. Rondomusic.com has a few 32" electrics.
I'm sure there's a bunch of good recommendations in the above thread.
Fender has/had a few. Not the easiest to find, but not impossible:
-some of the mid-80s MIJ E-series Precisions
-MIJ non-export Aerodyne J bass (AJB-M)
-one of the Stu Hamm Urge models
I think there's a current production MIJ Jazz model too, the JB62M.
Fender Reverse Jag
Squier Tele bass
Some Aria Pro IIs
MIJ Fender (Aerodyne!)
Warwick makes a 4&5 medium scale
Fender BG32 AEB
Jay Turser Hofner knockhoff :p
Many custom builders (FBB;))
And as already stated, check out the Medium Scale Club thread.
The medium scale club thread gave me a lot of information. I really do appreciate it, I am new to this forum and I am finding a ton of information.
I appreciate the help from you guys.

The Japanese fenders are really something special. If you have the means to get an MIJ aerodyne, or a regular MIJ 32" p or j, you won't be disappointed.
As special as it gets - but there are also a number of high end and ultra high end options out there as well.
Good luck, and let us know what you come up with!
Where would one look for the 32" MIJ fender p & j basses?
ebay can be a good source for all sorts of medium scale Fenders from Japan.
Just do a search on "Fender Bass Medium 32" or "Bass Guitar Medium Scale 32" - a few will always pop up.
I love my 1962 Jazz Bass replica in medium scale, it's friggin awesome!
Here is the Fender Japan site where you can see the finishes, but please note that Fender Japan only measures scale length from the nut to the 12th fret. You need to convert from mm to inches and then double it:
You can get it brand new here off ebay in burst:
But used ones come up as well - and don't be afraid to check around - like the US the Japanese mail order/internet distributors will definitely save you some bucks on the instruments and on shipping.
Cliff Bordwell Instruments
Cliff builds very nice 32" scale basses, his customer service is top notch, and he's a really nice person! Plus, he is a regular participant on TalkBass...
There is a 32' Fender in Lansing and one in Nashville. Both in nice shape.
