That's a Rickenbacker 3000 model - they made them in the 80's.

Pick one up and play it and you'll probably change your mind. The 3000 model bass is cheaply made, poor sounding, and amazingly heavy for the size instrument it is. I've had the opportunity to buy several of these over the years, and never considered owning one. Not at any price.

They made the 3000 and the 3001 in the 1970s ...

they made 2000 series basses in the 80s and 90s with the same body shape but 2 pickups.

Well, I have a 1978 3001 (long scale version of the 3000) and it is a fantastic bass. Yes, it's heavy but it is a well constructed, solid bass with tone for days. An angry p-bass tone with enough signature Rick clank. Out of all my Rickenbackers including a1974 4001, and a 2003 4003 it's the go to one.

They're sleepers.

That's an important point, considering the likelihood that the bass one hears in that video probably ISN'T that Rickenbacker.

i dunno. i checked out some of their live videos and she pretty much had the same tone so i think the bass used on the recording was the one in the video.

Ah, I get ya! Yeah, you can tell she was "acting," but just so there's no confusion, she does actually play bass and sing in that band.

And I wasn't concerned with the tone, just what model bass she was using. But you guys are right; most of the time the bass used in studio is not the one used live.

A bit of trivia if any of you care: the male guitar player is one of my bass heroes. His name is Nate Gangelhoff and plays in Banner Pilot and records with Off With Their Heads. I really love his bass tone in those bands.

Sorry, have to disagree. I love my 3000. It is on the heavy side, but i'm a pretty big guy so i can handle it. It is definitely not cheaply made - it has the same build quality as other Ricks, in a short-scale, bolt-on package. It's a lot of fun to get the Rick sound and feel on a shorty. It has a great snarling rock tone, as you can hear on the video up top (which IMO is the bass in question). I've used it for jazz and a lot of other genres as well, so it's versatile, at least in my hands. So -- to each his own! -- a matter of taste.

I'd own one if it wasn't for the weight ( I'll haul an SVT around but I won't wear a heavy bass). They have one of the coolest tones around and are made as well as other Rics IMO.
