What are some 32 inch scale basses?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently aquired a fender BG-31 ABG with a 32 inch scale. It is the most comfortable bass to play I have ever owned. I have had to switch to short scale basses because of wrist problems, but I greatly prefer the 32 inch scale because it is still comfortable without feeling so flubby. After browsing around however I am having trouble finding maufactures who make 32 inch scale basses. Any suggestions?

Rondo Music has this.

Warmoth also offers 32" necks for their short-scale series bodies.

you could also try higher tension strings on your 30" scale basses... there;s really no need for it to feel flubby

One of the "girl" brands (Daisy Rock or Luna) has one that comes in purple or pink glitter. I seriously was considering one for a while. Other than that and some Rondo offerings not much exists. Warmoth did fill a big void IMO.

Waterstone makes the Tom Peterson models (12, 8 and 4 strings) in 32" scale.

The only ones I know of immediately are the Fender Urge Bass and the Kubicki Ex-Factor. I am sure that the boutique builders of short scales, like Birdsong, can make you a 32"

I like the 32" scale and have several. THey are more attractive to me as my fingers slow down.
Japanese Squier P/J
Aria Pro II TSB
Aria Pro II TSB 400
Hagstrom Hag II - 31" Scale

I hope to buy or have made a nice 32" bass made by Landing at some point. Check out their site. The SX is also worth checking out.

I have also found that GHS, Rotosound, , T.I., La Bella and D'Addario all make medium scale strings. The right string is important for the right feel.

I actually was wondering the same thing. Been shopping for a decent practice/jam bass, and was wondering if short scale basses are looked down upon. I'm new to bassdom, so this is helpful stuff. Thanks!

I totally forgot about the Daisy Rock Stardust Elite. It's a 32" scale, and having played one, I can tell you it's a pretty nice bass...if you can get around the white/purple sparkly finish.

A friend of mine bought one for his girlfriend a while back, but IIRC, it was dark purple.

my number one go to bass is an early 80`s vantage avenger and it is around 32 inches; perfect for my small hands.
i also have a fury frettless which is around 31.5 inches as all of their basses are.

Check out Landing Bass. Great basses.

Here a 32" P bass that just shipped out.

Birdsong's are 31". Doubt Scott would do a 32". Not sure if the difference is very noticeable ?

If you watch the TB classifieds and E-Bay you may run across a used 32" Fender or Squier P bass.

Tom Clement bass does 32" basses too.

Oh and if you got lots of money there's alway Carl Thompson and Alembic.

There is also the Flea bass.

32 scale is great not sure why more don't do it. They can also work for 5 and 6 strings but don't seem to work well with low tension sets like TI Flats...t

I recently picked up a Dearmond Jet Star from a TB member - it's 31" and plays very nicely. You could find one if you looked around...either Dearmond or the Guild model which preceded it.
