What Are Some "Nuisances" That Have No Longer Become a Big Deal to You in Bass?

I can think of many over the years.

Initially, I wanted a bass with no deadspots, no fret buzz, no 60-cycle hum. I also need something loaded with powerful onboard EQ, with tons of tonal options. Also used to need 24 frets and heavy bridge hardware, and an exotic top.

But yeah, normal wooden deadspots, fret buzz and 60-cycle hum really don't bother me anymore. I had a Modulus for a long time that didn't have any of that, but I realize the sound I really wanted has a little both of all those things as a result.

24 frets is the only one that comes to mind. I don't really like having less than 22 though. 3-band EQs are optional initially but will likely be added in the future if not already present.

Well, when I was a noob I thought 24 frets was the way to go! I was like "why aren't all basses 24 frets?" and I still don't get it, but 20 is ""OK"", 21 is just fine and 22 is great.

And well, that's it I guess.

I used to need a thumb rest. Now I have removed them from all my basses except one.

60 cycle hum - I am no longer bothered by it.
Dead spots - I was never bothered by it. Only my MIA P has a noticeable dead spot among my basses.
Fret buzz - Now I kinda like it.

Fret buzz, used right, can be a very effective tool.
