The non-usa cheap model (but still has the Fullerton-made G&L Magnetic Field Design humbucking pickups) and does very well in my modern country/classic rock band.
Check out the Talk Bass gear review page on it (9 out of 10s across the board): http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/show...-l-2500/cat/13

Something with a good 3 or 4 band preamp would be my choice.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

i guess it all depends on whether you want to fit in or shake things up. i could go either way depending on my mood that day haha.

I have been playing 4- and 5-string Jazz basses for 20 years, but only since my Precision was stolen from my vehicle. Been waiting for Fender to finally make the 5-string P-bass. Now is certainly not a good time financially for me to spend the bucks, but DAMN IT I want one. |

It felt good and was about $1750. Sorry about not giving the budget. I want to keep it below $2000. I can't afford to sell my other kydney. |

I guess the best way is to test out as many as possible and find which one has the best playabilty, you can always alter tone post buy with some different electronics. Lakland and Yamaha seem to suit me best. I missed out on buying a Lakland 55-01 because i went home from my local music store to think on it, and it was snap up by the time i returned to buy it. Fortunately for me, they had just received a Yamaha TRB1005J in the store which played like a dream but didn't sound as nice as the Lakland. I still bought it on playability alone and a few mods later, its now sounding like a high end professional bass . I also really liked Marleaux but they're wwwwaaaayyyyyy out of my budget. |
