Where to test drive a G&L L-2500 near RI

I live in Rhode Island, USA. I am interested in test driving a G&L L-2500. I have called/visited a few dealers in my area. No one seems to stock them and some don't even seem to know much about them. Is there a dealer somewhere within a 50 mile radius of Providence, RI that stocks these things? I definitely want to try a USA model. I would also like to try a Tribute. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (Not interested in the M series BTW.)

Man, I wish I could help you. I'm in the same boat. The neck specs lead me to believe this is my dream bass, but I have nowhere to try one

If you have the credit available, find one on Guitar Center Used Gear, buy it, try it for less than 30 days, then return it to the GC nearest you for a full refund.

Union Music in Worcester is a G&L dealer. Give them a call and see if they have one in stock.

Well I actually tried a used tribute at a GC in Natick, MA. It was a total POS, barely playable, but there was enough tone there to intrigue me. (Sort of a raw tone that I really liked.) However the neck was like a baseball bat. I mean, it was the thickest, chunkiest neck I ever laid hands on. I have played chunky rics, steinbergers, precisions, casady, etc. Nothing comes close to this giant. I assume it was an anamoly since G&L list the fret depth at .940" at the 12th fret. The sample I played was definitely over 1" thick. So I am looking for a good example of one with a good setup.

While G&Ls are classed as "chunky" necks and definitely not Ibby-style, I can't understand one being super-thick. The USA ones can be ordered with a variety of necks but the Tribs are usually pretty standard.

Just for fun I went and measured the thickness of my L2500 Tribby. It measured .997" at the 12th fret not including the height of the frets. So yeah, it might be over one inch thick overall especially when you add on strings on top of the frets. So that's pretty much standard for Tributes as far as I know.

I'm a fan of chunky necks and love mine but it's certainly not the chunkiest neck I ever played. (Wishbass gets that prize)

Alpha Audio Works in Mystic, CT (44 Washington St., Mystic, CT 06355 Phone 860.572.0460) advertises themselves as a G&L Dealer.

Even though they are only about 6 miles from me; I haven't been in the store in about 8 years - so I don't know what their current inventory is.

Its worth a call!!
