Who is the best BQ king among boutique bass, fodera、ken smith、mtd or sadowsky?

I know that they are all great boutique basses for high price, but I wonder which one wins the build quality, not discuss their tone, fodera、ken smith、mtd or sadowsky, who is the BQ KING

The Love Child of the union of Dairy Queen (DQ) and Burger King? ;)
Or, you left off another B and it's the BBQ King-which would be a tie between the Rendesvous or the Central in Memphis or The Salt Lick in Austin.:D

Sadowsky Basses, arguably the best basses ever.....Discuss...

The Salt Lick makes some darn fine barbeque (they're definitely in my top 5), but next time you're in Austin, I recommend making your way out to The County Line BBQ. Incredible barbeque, and the view is nice too.

The Mushroom & Swiss Grillburgers are darn good.

But as with a decent burger, "best bass" is subjective. No disrespect to Sadowski, Fodera, etc., but I say none of the above.

Five Guys may be the best burger value IMO.

Was just in Nashville, Jack's BBQ on Broadway is probably the best I've ever had.

North Hills CA:

Dr. Hogly-Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ

Best build quality, especially the hot link sandwich.

Salt lick is just ok...not worth the wait in my opinion...

I'm a simple sort, and I still like McDonald's build quality. Nobody can make horsemeat and silicone taste quite like McDonald's.

Listen, I'll take any of those basses you listed and smash them against a concrete wall, and they will all break. So much for build quality. But other than that, I've yet to hear anyone complain about the build quality of any of them.

I'm sure of one thing if you had a BBQ and Mike Tobias showed up their would be some great Tequila there!:D

I'd say Lefay.
Humanbase too are extremely well made, which could be said about any number of bulders...fodera, magnusguitars, smith, seibass, etc etc etc.
But any bass is only as good as you feel playing it.

Mmmm! Memphis ribs! Corky's ain't too shabby, either. I prefer the dry ribs vs. the wet ribs, but either way is tasty.

Maybe the op meant BBQ ribs at BB King's place?!

But I can buy 30 SX basses for the same price as a Sadowsky NYC.:hiding:

Pearls on a pig...

None of those things matter if the person playing it sucks. I was humbled in the past when I sold a Squier that I was sure was holding me back and justified it in my head that if I sold it and put the money toward a more expensive guitar, I'd become a better player. The guy who came and bought the Squier was a jazz guitarist and he made that Squier sound unbelievable through my amp and everything.

My point is who cares how good the build quality is, etc. Its all about the person playing it. I give more props to a guy who is killing it on a Squier than a guy who is struggling on his insanely expensive fancy, schmancy boutique bass.

JimmyM 03-04-2013 08:40 AM

Our guitarist has nothing but Squiers, Mexican Fenders, Epiphones, and a MusicMan Van Halen guitar copy made out of parts that he bought for cheap. He's probably the busiest guitarist in town. Number of complaints he's received from using them: 0.

Exactly my point! I also remember watching a live performance of Portishead and the guitarist was playing a Squier Tele, and he's known for his tone. Too many people get caught up in t helabel nonsense and most of us can't even play and do our high instruments justice because of our lack of ability, myself included!

Wow, I can't answer the question, but I hope someone can save your thread.

Whether or not you agree about if it's possible or important to find out who among the boutique builders has the best build quality, that's the question that the OP asked.
