The cream pickup covers and the control cavity cover's shape remind me of those parts from an Arbor Explorer-shaped bass someone gave me a long time ago. Arbor made cheap plywood copies in the 1980s, so that's another clue.

yeah, this is bottom of the barrel copy territory. (like "worse than the cheapest squier")

i'm guessing '70s far east, before japan got its act together and started making good stuff.

if you get it basically for free it might be worth a little energy fixing up, otherwise stay away.

those pickups are not dimarzio, duncan, or anything good.

I would totally leave the headstock as is!!! And I'm not kidding either.

Looks like it could be a great beater bass for those back country bar gigs. just flip that string saddle over, give it a good setup and rock the crap out of it!
