So, yes, Fender has been doing this for a long time. Last Sunday I put a rosewood MIJ '62 RI Precision neck on it. East meets West, 70's vs. 90's, fits like a glove.

Granted, just getting a new neck at all after 10 years of heavy gigging was a great improvement, but the 1.5" nut and the "slim C" shape have taken playing my trusty ol' Precision to a new level of pure joy. I love the J neck, but I greatly prefer the P sound, so there you have it.
Also, +1 on the Lakland 44-64 custom. Quite the awesome machine.

Mine has side marker dots where the frets are (instead of inbetween) indicating my neck started life as a fretless and someone actually had the neck fretted. Wierd, but the bass plays great.

I also have a couple of P-Bass Specials that have the Jazz neck. Much preferred.
Late last year, I bought a C-V Squier P and then swapped necks here on TB for a VM Squier Jazz - bound and blocked. The result is fantastic! Maybe I don't need the Dunn after all.
