Regardless, I will leave you alone from now on.

I don't know where you're checking basses out, but I've probably checked out close to 50 MIA Fenders since the '08 "improvements", and haven't seen any nut, fret, or dead spot issues on a single one of those - and to hold "high action" or "neck not adjusted properly" against the company instead of the seller is just plain dumb...
Sorry, I think you're way off on this one...

Yeah, I have 2 two '08 MIA Fenders, and they don't have any of those issues, either...

| To even include high action and neck adjustment in that list... wow. It begs a couple of questions... do you do setups and what factory setups do you like?
I set all of my basses up. I even set up my Brubakers when new because I have a different preference than most folks. I "could" play them as is but why when perfection is a few minutes away?
I've been getting "lucky" with Fenders for more than thirty years. I'm probably more detail oriented than most BUT I'm not anal about it. That's the trick I guess. I can play my 78 Jazz which has even by your standard exactly one flaw... the neck pocket isn't air-tight on one side (the neck hasn't budged in ten years), and it doesn't ruin my day. Why? Because I know it has absolutely no bearing on the playability or sound of my bass and since I don't stare at it (and frankly even if I did) it's a complete non-issue for me.
My newer Fenders were all as flawless as just about any of the boutique J basses I've come across with the added bonus of sounding exactly like Fenders. Even my 1997 MIA JD5's. Which for me trumped almost all of the other contenders.
You have every right to whatever opinion you have of Fender, as low as it apparently is. Fortunately I've managed to avoid the same stuff you continually see. Funny how that could happen.

Luck had nothing to do with it. (Well, as I bought it online, maybe a little, )

I may be lucky as I think I have a good one. I will never get rid of this particular bass and will take it and play it anywhere. It fulfills all my JB needs. I'm from the camp that prefers Jazzes over P's. I'ved owned and enjoyed and have gigged many times with P-basses. I don't hate them it's just that Larry Graham changed my life forever. I love the slap tone of a JB, and the funky and punchy fingerstyle tone when the bridge pickup is favored.
