I guess my momma raised me to want to be special!!
But your bass has much mojo and I'm really digging the red!!

For me maple is a popular tree for a fretboards, even Defil made some basses with maple fretboard. Like this Aster Bass 2, made fully of maple:
Less common wood for fretboards is mahogany, and Defil actually made mahogany fretboards - got a Defil guitar with that fretboard. Even tough the most common fretboard material was rosewood. |

| | This time, I didn't forget the gravy... Graphic Designer, Zon Guitars | | | | I just thought I'd chime in here and say that for lefties, maple fretboards aren't as common.
Fender, for example, hasn't made a production bass with a maple fretboard on it in over 30 years.
Ask me how happy I am about that. |

We can't ignore the construction. One piece maple or a separate fretbd like rosewood on maple? Always too, each piece of wood is different even from the same tree. |

| | | | Darker fretboards are used on other stringed instruments and for a long, long time now. I think the preferenced is carry over form another time.
