Everyone should agree with me...boohoo!
They should all love what I love so I will feel validated by strangers and the price skyrockets and I won't be able to afford it anymore.
Brilliant.
Oh God, how I wish people would hate the things I spend my own money on. Please, hate high end basses, good pocket knives, Colt 1911's and Harley Davidson |

But seriously, SMCD is right. I am doing my best to stay objective. Who doesn't have an ugly headstock ?? He is right. Also, I have found that you can drop a Peavey amp (1980's) down a flight of stairs or off the bed of the truck and it will work just fine. I've seen a brand that starts with a Behr... catch on fire just being plugged it for a few hours !!
Wow, this thread is WAY BEYOND what the OP intended !!!! ... ! |

I own a Peavey as a backup amp and I have a lot more respect for the brand now. I think a lot of people never get past their first impression. Looks count for a lot more than they should. I still hate the logo, however.

That's a super nice looking bass. I'm not looking for a bass right now, but if I were, I'd buy it. | Anyone who thinks that bass is better than a mia Fender P bass is just crazy.. |

Newer Fender's have improvements so the peavey isn't as nice as those - but I'll bet it sounds just as good.

I don't care who you are. You cannot say this bass is not sexy. To me, it's very appealing and you can't beat the price.
I still say they are on the top 10 list of best production basses under $1000 of all time ... |

They were wrong. |

Now, outside of the decal on the headstock, you tell me - in detail - what the differences are between these 2 basses. |

I noticed that you got lots of good advice, but didn't have the good manners to respond. Did you do what those more knowledgable people told you?? Well....??? |

I have less money in that Fury and those two guitars than a new MIM Fender. I even like the headstock. Of course I like the headstock on my G&L basses too - you can judge me by that if you wish.

I've had many more Fender amps with broken pot shafts than Peaveys. I've owned a LOT of Peavey equipment. I collected file cabinets full of Peavey schematics and anxiously waited for the schematics for new products. I modded most of my gear, adding features from higher up amps to the stuff I had.
My Mark III was great fun. I upped the filter caps. It made a big difference in headroom. I added active presence to both channels, two more bands to the graphic eq, aux inputs, and a 35Hz 12dB high pass filter to the active channel...all in the early 80's. I still have it, but it went down when I loaned it to a bass player while I was fixing his 200 watt Crate that he blew up for the 3rd time. I don't know how he did it, but he took my head out too.
I usually replaced the 4558 op amps with bifets in the amps I bought. Just that simple mod really brings a guitar or bass head to life.
The PV guitars and basses I've worked on were all well built and a joy to work on. I happen to love the headstock on my Accelerator 5. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
