People don't like what I like and what I think they should like...boohoo!

Everyone should agree with me...boohoo!

They should all love what I love so I will feel validated by strangers and the price skyrockets and I won't be able to afford it anymore.

Brilliant.

Oh God, how I wish people would hate the things I spend my own money on. Please, hate high end basses, good pocket knives, Colt 1911's and Harley Davidson

You are SO funny !! Because you are correct. I wish my landlord would hate rent, too I know I hate it, so I am already ahead of the game !

But seriously, SMCD is right. I am doing my best to stay objective. Who doesn't have an ugly headstock ?? He is right. Also, I have found that you can drop a Peavey amp (1980's) down a flight of stairs or off the bed of the truck and it will work just fine. I've seen a brand that starts with a Behr... catch on fire just being plugged it for a few hours !!

Wow, this thread is WAY BEYOND what the OP intended !!!! ... !

You left out the part where someone has to fix the steps or re-pave the road.

And that's only because those amp heads weighed as much as a small car.

My first opinion about Peavey, back in the 70's, was based strictly on looks - I thought the logo was cheap looking and I didn't like the amp faceplates either. I own a Peavey as a backup amp and I have a lot more respect for the brand now. I think a lot of people never get past their first impression. Looks count for a lot more than they should. I still hate the logo, however.

It seems that most every club both in real life and in the movies has Peavey PA speakers.

That's a super nice looking bass. I'm not looking for a bass right now, but if I were, I'd buy it.
Anyone who thinks that bass is better than a mia Fender P bass is just crazy..

That would depend on what era of MIA Fender P's you're talking about. That bass is every bit as good as any non custom shop Fender P of the same time period (70's/80's).
Newer Fender's have improvements so the peavey isn't as nice as those - but I'll bet it sounds just as good.

Here is a photo right from facebook of a guy playing an '84 Foundation. From the Peavey Bass Guitar Club.
I don't care who you are. You cannot say this bass is not sexy. To me, it's very appealing and you can't beat the price.
I still say they are on the top 10 list of best production basses under $1000 of all time ...

Peavey thought they could get away without doing actual design, as in graphics design, esthetics, have a professional sort out the lines and colors.

They were wrong.

Call me crazy. Take a look at this -

Now, outside of the decal on the headstock, you tell me - in detail - what the differences are between these 2 basses.

I have found the reason for your anti-Peavey attitude.

I noticed that you got lots of good advice, but didn't have the good manners to respond. Did you do what those more knowledgable people told you?? Well....???

One is a whole lot lighter than the other.

I'm not entirely sure what this means, or what it has to do with the subject at hand...??

Yes, that's my experience. I love Fender basses. I also love my light, back friendly, great sounding, great playing MIA Fury.

I'm biased toward Peavey as I dearly love my matching red MIA SSH Predator and MIA Reactor. I have less money in that Fury and those two guitars than a new MIM Fender. I even like the headstock. Of course I like the headstock on my G&L basses too - you can judge me by that if you wish.

In my decades of repairing amps and guitars for several music stores as an authorized repair tech, I've had my share of Peavey stuff to work on. I've had many more Fender amps with broken pot shafts than Peaveys. I've owned a LOT of Peavey equipment. I collected file cabinets full of Peavey schematics and anxiously waited for the schematics for new products. I modded most of my gear, adding features from higher up amps to the stuff I had.

My Mark III was great fun. I upped the filter caps. It made a big difference in headroom. I added active presence to both channels, two more bands to the graphic eq, aux inputs, and a 35Hz 12dB high pass filter to the active channel...all in the early 80's. I still have it, but it went down when I loaned it to a bass player while I was fixing his 200 watt Crate that he blew up for the 3rd time. I don't know how he did it, but he took my head out too.

I usually replaced the 4558 op amps with bifets in the amps I bought. Just that simple mod really brings a guitar or bass head to life.

The PV guitars and basses I've worked on were all well built and a joy to work on. I happen to love the headstock on my Accelerator 5.
