I have had my Wyn Koa 5-String for a few weeks now and I can't put it down. Very serious basses and such a personable and professional builder - Randy really cares to see that whomever ends up with one of his basses is happy. I just can't say enough...

That is one beautiful bass. He does brilliant work. I think the fact that he spent time learning bass building from Carey Nordstrand shows in his eye for detail. Also his prices are very reasonable for this level of craftsmanship.

You can read Randy's thoughts (and the thoughts on 12 other top luthiers) on this very subject in Bass Gear Magazine issue #9 (the link should go live this week). We had a very interesting discussion on this topic in the Luthiers' Round Table.

Oh, and I'm still very, very much in love with my Wyn 5-string!

I've had my Wyn bass 5 for about a month; the attached pics are of the bass. It plays so smoothly, the quality of the work is amazing, and it can create some amazing tones with its active and bypass passive settings! Randy is a wonderful person, and he really goes out of his way to build an amazing bass.

Check out this link to the trailer of a documentary that is being made about Randall Wyn Fullmer and his business.

http://vimeo.com/47943947

The bass has a 5A quilted maple top, wenge and African mahogany inner body layers, and a figured maple back. The neck is birds eye maple, wenge, and a center strip of bubinga. Nordstrand pups and electronics.

The Wyn basses are beautiful. I just hope they don't pick neck woods for appearance.

No worries, there. Randy's necks are rock solid, and very true.
