Yamaha BB1024x in Boston?

Hi-

I bought a Yamaha BB424x sight unseen off of ebay and the bass is incredible. I'd love to find a BB1024X at a music store in the Boston, MA area to play and see what the next bass up is like. GC doesn't appear to carry the 1024 and doesn't stock the 424. Are there any music stores that might stock the 1024?

I don't think so unfortunately. The 1024 and 1024x are rare, as I don't think Yamaha ever intended them for the U.S. market. They only want the entry 424x and top-of-the-line 2024x here apparently.

It's a shame because I love Yamaha instruments, but I couldn't spend what they want for the (admittedly superb) 2024x, but I probably would have sprung for the mid level model if I could have played it first.

FWIW, I think the 424x is a great bass in it's own right and I think you'll enjoy it for years even if the construction and hardware isn't quite up to the standards of the higher level models.
