Hello Tb'ers. I bear some sad, idiotic news and I need the facts.
Here is some background. I'm in the middle of highschool and just don't seem to click with guitar, so? I pick up bass, a beautiful instrument in its own right.
Well, what bass do I purchase used? A beatiful naturally road worn Yamaha BB300 in sonic blue!
Well, after playing a bit I realize? I'm gonna buy a pbass and make the yamaha my fretless project! So I do that, and the end result is UGLY but it still works, intonation is spot on even though the bridge is a bit broken. Then, young me gets the wonderful idea of: Hey! I want to have a bass in a natural colour! So i proceed to sand Part of the body. Half way through doing the top of the bass, I FOR SOME REASON (i don't know why, please don't murder me) decide to buy a soldering iron to see how to use it..... all i can say is that it WAS UGLY!!!! I burnt everything except the solder!!!! Every connection was pretty much gone and the pickups fell apart. The bass was pretty much firewood from what i could tell. Oh, and the tuners are off for some reason now....
Now, a couple years later, I browse the net to see other yamaha BB300's. BUT!? none are in sonic blue! all of them are in black, natural, or red.... So I sit here wondering, did I murder a beatiful gem? and I ask you talkbass, DID I?
Please do not bash me too hard as I was young, immature, and did not think of the end result as i was doing it because i was too obsessed with the new pbass (squier matt freeman) i had purchased at the start of the "project of doom".
Sorry and Thank You.
