I don't have a bass amp and was only allowed to inspect for damages. It's a Christmas present. I don't know how it sounds either.
I'll try to post up sound/video of this bass later (I'll play it through my guitar amp). Dial in the tone knob in different positions in both regular and hi-cut modes. Play it finger-picking, pop and slap, and two-hand tapping.

Hello,

I have updated the pic, from left to right :
Yamaha RBX 260 "Pink Panther" : rewired electronic / Wizard P.U / Wilkinson bridge
Yamaha BBN 4III : stock
Yamaha RBX 250 "Surf" : rewired electronic
Yamaha RBX 260 unfretted : rewired electronic
Yamaha RBX 260 "Bell" : rewired electronic / Wizard P.U / Gotoh bridge

I like those cheap Yamaha's to play rock ....

They are lightweight and easy to modify (pots, PU, bridge ...)

Fun to play live in my rock band, even if they don't sound as $1500 bass, it is enought for me, playing less than 10 shows/year.

I have the identical rbx260 fretless -- i upgraded to chromes (flatwound) and a 1/4 pounder and it sounds like magic! Not cheap sounding at all -- fat and meaty or clear and bright -- it sounds "right" and feels great...

Nice bass. Like the colour -- I could rock a pink bass.
Here's the question (and I suppose I could just look it up), but why are they called 'Motion' basses? Or is it just a name (like many other unusually named instruments)?

I believe its just a name. It is actually Motion B. That is where the MBIII comes from. I bought the pink one because I got a better deal on it than the other colors.

Plays great, I can get the growl out, very versatile and light! It came strung with flats. I love the neck, I just need to touch it up with a little steel wool. My input jack is starting to go out, so I need to have that changed.

Number please?

Essentially a 5-string version of the SBV re-issue basses from 10 years ago. Although having said that, apart from the body and headstock shape it has little in common with either the original 60s SB basses or the more recent SBV re-issues, having soapbar pickups and active electronics and an angled headstock. It's the Terry and the Blue Jeans (famous Japanese surf band) signature model - hence the name - with a limited run of 50. I'm guessing that there's a good chance mine is the only one outside of Japan.
Wow, that is hawt. I love SBV's, but I've never seen one quite like this!

Does anyone know of a Yamaha East model for sale? I'd really like to buy one. I currently have a Yamaha TRB 5 and I love it.
