Seeing that it's a bolt on I would love to see a Fender Jazz style neck on that ...

This would take some serious retro-fitting as the neck is slotted at the base where it bolts into the body to allow room for the huge magnet under the pick-up.....

I did have this thought when i found the crack in the original neck...

I think it should be pink. Or purple.

These came out of the Hoshino Gakki factory which also produced Greco and Ibanez...
Hoshino Gakki (usually just Hoshino) is the name of the company that owns the Ibanez and Greco brands among others. They have never actually owned a factory of their own, always hiring other guitar factories to build their instruments for them. This instrument was almost certainly made in the Fuji-gen Gakki shop, which also made the Ibanez guitars at the time, and which would later make Yamaha, Fender Japan, and other instruments for other companies. They were definitely capable of making very high quality instruments, but generally built to the quality the buyer was paying for as well.
Not a knock on this instrument at all, just pointing out it wasn't built by the company that owned Ibanez, it was just built in the same building alongside the Ibanez instruments, and likely by the very same guys as well. Tamura-san ran that shop at the time, and studied/apprenticed with John D'Angelico in Brooklyn and did not allow crap out the door.

Definitely purple.
With a green pickguard.
You can name it, "Barney."

Yep, I dislike gold hardware also, and none of my basses have any.
The ano gold is not like typical gold hardware, but more subtle, and definitely sets off a trans white finish well.
Most basses with ano gold 'guards tend to have chrome hardware ime.
Regardless, just a suggestion.

at this point i'm leaning towards a titanium sparkle white with pearloid guards...

but an american flag motif may still be worked in there!

tuners, pups, CTS pots, orange drop caps, and a switchcraft jack have been ordered...
