For the second I especially asked under 4kg, I like lightweight basses. |

I hope this is the case because, well, it would be a tragedy for a company that makes one of the best sounding vintage-style basses to simply stop making them. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Lynbrook, NY | | | Am I making a mistake?? Just received this Suhr Classic J bass about a week ago. Love the way it plays but I'm just not use to the sound of a passive bass. I was thinking about installing an Audere preamp that I had laying around to give it a bit more modern sound which is what I am used to.
I figured I would ask for opinions both pro and con before I do anything. It is possible that I just haven't had the bass long enough to get familiar with the sound it does offer. Also, I live and mostly play in an apartment so cranking it to get that "bark" I have heard passive basses give is not an option.
I respect the opinions of my fellow bass players so I figured let me ask before I do something I may regret (although the change could be easily reversed). Thanks
