I got also this one, very nice and deep tone but a little bit heavy to my taste.(4,2 kg) It's the first one I ordered to Suhr and I asked a lightweight one.
For the second I especially asked under 4kg, I like lightweight basses.

That's one of the most beautiful classic J's I've ever seen!

Yes, my Suhr is about the same weight, about 9 lbs. Very comfortable with a wide strap.

I pmed a TB'er who sells them online, apparently Suhr basses are still on the menu, maybe they haven't gotten around to finishing thier new website.

I hope this is the case because, well, it would be a tragedy for a company that makes one of the best sounding vintage-style basses to simply stop making them.

Just heard back from them and they are still indeed making their fine basses , they are just revamping the site .

Am I making a mistake??

Just received this Suhr Classic J bass about a week ago. Love the way it plays but I'm just not use to the sound of a passive bass. I was thinking about installing an Audere preamp that I had laying around to give it a bit more modern sound which is what I am used to.

I figured I would ask for opinions both pro and con before I do anything. It is possible that I just haven't had the bass long enough to get familiar with the sound it does offer. Also, I live and mostly play in an apartment so cranking it to get that "bark" I have heard passive basses give is not an option.

I respect the opinions of my fellow bass players so I figured let me ask before I do something I may regret (although the change could be easily reversed). Thanks
