Your Dream Parts Bass?

I've been daydreaming about building a bass out of parts, and it consists of:
A jazz body, a Status graphite neck, Fender N3 noiseless jazz pickups, a Status Onboard 500, with Status tuners and a Hipshot transtone bridge!

What is your unrealistic/daydreamy parts bass?

With white blocked and bound maple fingerboard, hipshot tuners and bridge, Nordstrand pickups, Fender knobs and plates, parchment or perloid pickguard, custom neckplate with a 50's pin-up girl.

Telecaster body, you know, the one that actually looks like a telecaster guitar?
I'd have that in rock maple, then put a Jackson/Charvel neck on it. 3pc rock maple, graphite reinforcement. Now I'm trying to decide which would look better, a maple or graphite fretboard? Idk. EMG P/J's, Spector Hazlab pre. Gold Schiller hardware fosho. And to top it all off, the biggest, fattest badass brass bridge they make.

And that's my dream parts bass

I'm lucky enough to already own my dream parts basses. If you're into Status graphite necks, you'd probably enjoy these two babies (fretted and fretless).



Just for info and general discussion, I went back and looked up what my two beauties cost me:

THE GREEN FRETLESS BASS
Fretless Status Jazz neck (lined, side dot markers between lines) £310.27
Warmoth Jazz body, swamp ash with quilted maple emerald dye top £293.92
EMG J-set pickups, black £159.59
Gold hardware (neck plate, control plate, string retainer, Schaller strap locks), black J-bass knobs, washers, screws, battery holders and batteries, etc £83.16

I loved the fretless so much, I had to go ahead with the fretted one.

Thanks - I've had them both for about 8 years now. That's the longest I've ever kept any bass! I owned about 10 at one time and have cut right back (sold my Ric, Stingray, Status S2 and a couple of Fenders).

One or the other of these gets used for pretty much every gig I do these days. They are just perfect for me. That's what I was after when I put them together and it really worked out.

I'd probably have a something like slab p body and geddy lee neck, with emg p/j's, one of those really cool looking kahler bridges, and lollipop tuners. Haven't thought much about it yet though.

Brand new condition 70's or 80's Fender American Precision Bass:
-Black Body no pickguard (rear routing)
-Maple 21 fret Fender P Neck w/thickness of 1968 Tele bass neck
-Original stock Fender pickup and stock controls
-String Thru Body
-No contours at all on front or back, just a big heavy slab of a body
-Original Fender chrome tuners

Yeah that's my dream bass, no more, no less.

-neck, maple on maple, black block and binding. Tele bass headstock, P-bass profile.

All Hipshot hardware, in black.

For me, its not so much the bass; 4 string J neck and J body with a string through body bridge; but the pickup setup that I want:

Dual Nordstram MM4.4 pickups; The pickup has 4 separate coils in it that I would like wired through a 3 way switch. Each 3 way would go: top 2 coils (Jazz style), split P-Style, and all on (Music Man humbucker style).

2 Volume, 1 tone knob, and away we go.

I figure I could get darn near any sound I could possibly want with that setup in one bass, even potentially the same song.

Hefner 70s ash body
Finished in reranch lpb/nitro
Pearloid pick guard (WD)
Gotoh 201 bridge
Dimarzio area Js with CTS pots, orange drop cap
Neck is an original 73 jazz bass neck blocked & bound
- it was in bad shape when I bought it and I cleaned it up.
It is a 4 bolt so I converted the Hefner to 4 bolt prior to painting it.
Strings are ghs brite flats, natch.

Sounds just like a 70s should.

Single cutaway (fedora style) body
35" scale
6 strings
Fanned frets (Novax style)
Ebony fingerboard
"Fretless" bridge (just like Di PIAZZA)
Active/passive dual pickups with 3 band eq and bandpass filter
MIDI out (synth access)
stereo output
playing ramp
J-bass string spacing
less than 9 lbs
