| | | | your stoner/doom bass well, we have stoner rig threads, stoner pedals threads...
but i couldnt find a stoner bass thread.
so here it goes:
what basses do you use to play some stoner rock?
do you use active basses to get a better control of the sound?
or perhaps humbuckers to make it alls nice and dirty?
or a p-bass?
show em, and tell us why you love em! |

| | | | ehm, can't you couple these threads together instead of bombarding talkbass with "stoner/doom" treads?
A friend of mine uses a Rickenbacker in his stoner/doom band, but I used to sit in during rehearsals and jam along with my stingray. Both sounded entirely different and both worked. |

That being said, I use my only bass: Squier Jazz Bass.
Sounds good and does the job, but I need a bigger amp if I want to play some mad riffs at an acceptable volume.

Covers should be on , with a nice narrow / sliding pad vintage strap . |

Oh you Mean heavy metal, +1 on its all about the amp and not the bass ( unless you want one of those KISS basses) . Its this simple : SVT-CL, 810E cab, Big Muff, Cry Baby Wah for Bass, compressor (optional ) Earplugs (needed) = TURN IT UP UNTIL THE NEIGHBORS CALL THE COPS. ALSO HAVE SOME FUN...... |

Neither are active, but both have more output than most active basses I've played. I call them the steroidal Ps. |

I have a Peavey T40 and Fender P too, but the Yam has a real fat growly sound to it with both P & J pickups on and I'm yet to play a bass I prefer the sound of! May upgrade to the 1025X though! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
