NEW YORK, NY — Aguilar Amplification is pleased to announce a Latin Bass Master Classes on Saturday, September 26th 2009 at their New York City headquarters with endorsing artists, Oskar Cartaya and Ruben Rodriguez. This master class is free of charge.
Mainstays in the Latin jazz world, Oskar and Ruben will be teaching the history of Latin jazz as well as demonstrating some of the rhythms and techniques that have fueled their playing over the years.
Oskar's credits include Spyro Gyra, Herb Albert, Jennifer Lopez, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Tito Puente and many others. As a solo artist, his band Cartaya’s Enclave plays “a gumbo of jazz and funk, Afro-Caribbean percussion and urban street soul attitude.” Some of Ruben's credits include Grover Washington Jr., John Scofield, Mavis Staples, Celia Cruz, Gato Barbieri and Willie Colon. Ruben has widely been recognized as one who has revolutionized the sound of contemporary Salsa.
