Barefaced Ltd have introduced a unique range of high output, lightweight speaker cabinets for the gigging bassist who wants maximum tone and volume yet minimum weight. By challenging convention and thoroughly engineering every aspect of their designs Barefaced have radically reduced weight and distortion whilst increasing maximum output without compromising on all-important tone.
Their most popular model, the Compact, features a very high output 15" driver in a carefully tuned and braced enclosure resulting in similar max SPL to the most expensive 2x12" cabs on the market yet similar weight to the lightest neo 1x12" cabs. In recent years bassists have moved away from fifteens due to a lack of punch or excessive boom and mud - thanks to the powerful neodymium motor and large voice coil the Compact has strong punchy mids whilst the precise enclosure design ensures there is no unwanted boom. Ideal for the frequently gigging bassist that would like to downsize but doesn't want to give up their big sound or the bassist that has already downsized but wants more bottom and output than their current lightweight cab.
Barefaced's flagship model features an extremely high excursion 15" woofer in a larger heavily braced enclosure which can produce more high SPL bottom than an 8x10" - the midrange and treble is then reproduced by a high sensitivity 6.5" driver for maximum midrange punch yet smooth treble clarity. The advanced high order crossover ensures consistent polar response whilst maximising power handling and output. The Big One weighs significantly less than the lightest neo 4x10" cabs yet can play louder with lower distortion - and is particularly outstanding with dropped-tunings or extended range basses, at cutting through dense mixes whilst retaining fat bottom or for anyone who frequently plays without decent PA support and finds it hard to get a tone that sounds as good onstage as it does at the back of the venue.
The competitive prices are only possible due to direct sales - the premium quality components and labour intensive construction would result in very high prices if sold through conventional retailers. Any online purchase includes a 14 day free trial, so you can test the cab at a gig and be sure that Barefaced really works for you. Prices start at £400 for the Compact. For more information visit
