Idyllwild Arts Academy (an arts boarding school in Idyllwild, CA) has announced several bass openings for the 2009-2010 school year. Open to high school age double bassists, students have the opportunity to study with LA Philharmonic principal bassist Christopher Hanulik, or San Diego Symphony principal bassist Jeremy Kurtz. Bassist and composer Peter Askim is the Academy's music director and composer-in-residence. Recent grads have received full scolarships to Julliard, Curtis, New England Conservatory, Oberlin, etc.
