- Sandy Gibbs inspired me to switch to bass in high school so he gets main credit. I listened to Stanley Clarke and Berry Oakley, who both blew me away back then. Later on, I discovered Jaco. Jim Williams of Knoxville has a really nice approach to bass and has gigged for years here. I discovered Ed Friedland and Bryan Beller through Bass Player. Both are gifted musicians and have played all kinds of music.
