Current Setup:
Sansamp 1.1 preamp used in the send/return of a Carvin BX-1200 bass amp, this amps output is bridged in mono and drives an 'upright' 1970 Sound City 4x12 PA cab. the cab's been retrofitted with (4) Eminence 16 ohm 'Swamp Thang' speakers (this cab is used for high power 'mid bass & mids') For lows I take a DI feed from the Carvin and feed it into a Parametric eq which then feeds a Crest FA-1201 power amp thats bridged in mono, this powers a double 18" cab which has been retrofitted with (2) Eminence Definimax 18's. The mid cab is rated up to 600 watts in the 100-5khz range. The low cab can handle up to 1600 watts in the 30-125 hz range
Previously owned gear:
$80 short scale Kay bass with super high action and flat wound strings...Phillips intergrated 40 watt per channel amp...a heavy cube that contained a very beefy SRO (EV) 15" speaker...an Ampeg V-2 4x12 guitar cab with (2) stock speakers and (2) JBL E-120's...a 300 watt Peavey MK3 bass head (that Peavey taught me all about over-rating and marketing gimmicks) a Peavey T-40 bass...an AMP bass preamp feeding a giant Pioneer SX-1250 stereo receiver then moving onto the original Peavey CS-800 power amp...an old EAW 18"/2x10 cab ...and various other forgotton stuff
G.A.S. List:
as far as preamps I'm not 100% sure since I'd have to 'hear' the various things out there first however the Manley TNT seems like it would work out pretty well for a suedo tri-amped set up...For EQ I guess 'mid bass mids' shaping could be done by a Vintech X81, for 'lows' (2) Rane PE-17 parametric eq's would probably be fine (one used for sub frequencies and the other for 75-150 hz)...for a 'sub' cab a single Cerwin Vega EL-36 folded horn, for mid bass (2) 4x10's and for mids an Elderly upright 4x12 cab loaded with Eminence Swamp Thangs...For power amps I think an 18 lb. stereo Powersoft K-3 would work fine for both 4x10 cabs and the single folded horn, for the high sensitivity mid cab(around 107 db with 1 watt of mid frequencies) I think any decent 100 watt (or more) tube power amp would sound sweet.
