I want to make my own bass next. I have the bug bad and need to do it! I am hoping to build a 5-string, fretted, prettyprettypretty bass. Possibly with flamed maple top or similar... suggestions and advice welcome!

Update: Built two basses from scratch - one fretless fiver and one fretted, top-swappable fiver. So consider the itch scratched. Now it's a full on obsession.

I'd also like to get a good old Fender Jazz Bass (USA).
Gigs, Bands, & Ensembles:
Vitus - Diver - Madison Ave. - Patron Saints of Mediocrity - Bella Wolf - The James Ibur Band - Bad Andie - SoulCoustic and lots of 'project' bands experimenting in the 'jam-band/fusion' zone - Bones Jones - Catalina Wine Mixer - Flying House
