Where's Juaqo? His guitarist uses a 7-string fanfret guitar, and is just awesome. Novax makes a fanfret Charlie Hunter model guitar.

Oh, don't get me wrong. My guitarist at that time was a great one. I double as a lead guitarist, so I am no guitarist-hater. The band I was in back then did a lot of songs off the cuff, stuff we had never practiced before. As long as one of us knew it, if the audience requested it, we would try it. If I knew the song, but the guitarist didn't, I would just stand near him and he would look at my hands to figure out which chords to play. But, my AB1 had 5 strings, fanned frets, and no dot position markers on the fretboard. It didn't take long for me to figure out that I would have to shout the chords to him instead of having him look at my hands. Which led to a led of this....

Me...."Next chord is C!"
Guitarist...."D?"
Me...."C!"
Guitarist..."Oh...E!"
Me...."No....C"
Guitarist..."I got it....E"
Me....***make C shape gesture with right hand for 0.5 seconds and hope that it was understood***

So, there may be another drawback to Dingwalls that I didn't remember, at least ones without fretboard markers(fortunately, Combustions have dots). But, its all good, we always had a good time.

What I mean is, obviously many of us like to drink at the gig, and I know some of us can get quite buzzy. Can you still play them pretty much relying off motor memory, or do they require more concentration?
It looks like they require more concentration!
and less drinking
I don't drink, really....that's why.....I don't play a Dingwall...
