At first glance the Traben Basses may be hard to “take seriously”, but there bridges are very functional. Trabens sound great and are built with unbelievable quality for the price. These basses are a great fit from beginners to gigging musicians. Plus they have tons of great options from exotic wood tops to neck through bodies, and some even have Duncan Bass line pickups.

We DO have a TB discount! Use the promo-code: talkbass on checkout after you've added something to your cart at our site and it'll give you a discount ANY TIME OF THE YEAR!
Mention it on on phone orders and get the same discount!
On the TPB LE Roscoe and the MTD Z, we're offering TB'ers a free upgrade to Express 3 Day Shipping.
We also have a price-matching guarantee. You find it for less and we can confirm that price, we'll beat it!
We're not a Fender dealer, but we are considering the new Nordstrand "Nordy", Mike Lull and Dingwall. There's some J-style for you...
As far as P style...Spector and Warwick both have models with P style pickups and Lakland has the Bob Glaub which we also carry (but are currently out of). So we do have some P and J style instruments, but we're not a Fender dealer.
Peace and thanks to all for the comments!

We have every GK product that we feel is worth buying! So yes, we do have most if not all of the Neo line in stock!
Peace!

Hi James, I just had a brainstorm. Well in my case, it was a light shower and a bit of a breeze, but none the less, I think it is a great idea.
With every two thousand dollars a customer spends. Wink Wink. Throw in an effects pedal like and EBS or Pigtronics muuhaaa haaa haaa for free.
I thought it was a great idea, what do the rest of you guys think. lol
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Joel B.
P.S. cumulatively I think this makes almost four G's from lil' ole me. hehehe.

That IS a great idea...for YOU!
Actually I'd love to offer something like that, but we prefer to be able to deliver great service and pricing out the gate!
Here's an idea that we did have... It's kind of like a "Gear Savings Account"...or GSA for short. You deposit $100 in your TPB GSA, and if you keep it on deposit for at least 60 days, your $100 credit turns into $105 in-store credit!
That's a 5% return in just 2 months!
Here's the best benefit though... You send us the 50 bucks here and there that you stash out of view of the spousal unit and when you come back for that next high end gear purchase you say, "But honey, this bass (or amp/cab/etc) is only $300!!"
We actually have customers locally that are interested in doing this... If we can only find an economical way of implementing it, we just might!
In all seriousness, we deeply appreciate your business!
Peace!

For basses, I only play those with the so-called "wide" string spacing. I also tend to prefer Fendery looking basses, but do make exceptions! I know this is a vague answer to the "what brands?" question, but will help indirectly.
For amps: I have four Bergantino cabs and love 'em to death, but am considering some nice neo cabs (bad back). At this time I'm looking at Epifani and Schroeder but would consider others. I also use rack rigs, with components made by Stewart, Read, Tech21, SWR, Ampeg, Alembic... I mention brand names just to give you an idea of what I spend on amp gear.
I own an NYC Sadowsky, but unless a money tree grows in my back yard I don't see myself paying that much for another instrument.
I play 5-strings exclusively.
I own and use a variety of strings: Sadowsky, TI, D'Addario, Rotosound, various flavors of DR, Ken Smith Tapercores, LaBella Hard Rockin Steels. I'd also like to get a set of nylon tapes for one of my basses... people seem to like the LaBellas. All that said: the more hot outdoor gigs I play, the more I love Elixir Nanowebs. I can kill a set of uncoated strings with sweat in one night. Sweat doesn't kill the Elixirs until the coating comes off, and that takes awhile. IME the Elixirs pay for themselves. In addition, I'd like to try the TI Powerbass strings sometime soon.

Alright James, I have two ideas:
PAYMENT PLANS: Everyone knows that the only companies that offer payment plans are going to be musiciansfriend, zzounds, music123, sweetwater, etc. But they are somewhat limited in their high quality products. Offer me a payment play with 23% interest rate and I would probably be stupid enough to buy that MTD that's been sitting in your shop for awhile with that interest rate. Imagine a 3500 MTD with a 23% interest rate. That $875 bucks in your company. But maybe not that high of interest
MORE STRINGS: You guys are the experts . . . On your website have strings that will fit under the heading "For Slappers Only", then another for "Rockers", etc. Many people will listen to your advice and others are just sold out to "their" strings. Add some Elixir, they are perfect for slapping, great for agressive finger playing, don't know about picking, and they last LOOOOOOOOOOOONGG!!!
Okay, I lied I have two more ideas. . .
SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE: Basic modification recommendations for the weekend warrior's Ibanez, cort, or lower quality gear . . . The college student who can't drop $3000 but can get Bartolini's with an Aguilar premamp and get close to a $3000 sound. Tell us how to intonate our bass guitars, recommend an upgrade if we have "pickup x" and it's not bright enough, suggest EMG's? Or if it's too bright, swap with Bartolini's? Share the knowledge, I'm tired of reading and it getting me no where.
Last thing: FREE STUFF, anything . . . Maybe a "perfectbass" tshirt with a purchase over $100 and free picks and stickers on any purchases. Weekly, monthly, or yearly giveaways! If you take this idea I'll require the MTD 535 Ash that you have sitting their collecting dust.
Other than that, you guys rock at perfect bass!

Hi Micahel,
Payment Plans - We do offer layaway for as long as 90 days in some cases... But we don't offer the financing that those other guys offer because I feel that it's usuerous. In other words, those programs are BAD DEALS for our customers, so we prefer to not offer them at all. They are good for us, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that we put our customers into bad debt.
Strings - Got it...working on that!
Share the Knowledge - We're about to launch a Podcast that I think is exactly what you're looking for! We'll have instructional content on the products we carry and on setup/care & feeding, and we'll also have some candid moments in the shop. Should be a lot of fun!
Free Stuff - Dude, we have some of the BADDEST giveaways around!!! See these addresses:

Thanks and Peace!

LAKLAND SIGNATURE MODELS
James,
I've already talked to you about Lakland basses over the phone. There are a lot of bass players that want that Jazz tone or the P-bass tone, but don't want the low quality Fenders. Lakland has different signature models that cover these needs.
Jazz basses: Joe Osborne signature model(60's vibe)
Darryl Jones signature model(70's vibe)
both of these basses are similar with the D.J. having a smaller body and Aero pickups as opposed to the Lindy Fralin pickups in the J.O. model. D.J. also has block inlays and neck binding.
P-basses: Bob Glaub signature model
Donald "Duck" Dunn signature model
both have the same electronics. The Glaub having the typical P-bass(larger) neck and the Dunn having the thinner Jazz style neck with block inlays and neck binding.
The good news is that I should be receiving my Duck Dunn signature model in a few weeks. Thanks TBP
The other good news is that I will be looking for a Jazz bass in the future. I will definitely buy a Lakland. I will probably be leaning towards the Darryl Jones model with a maple fretboard. Hint, Brandt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also don't forget the Jerry Scheff model and the Hollowbody models.
Brandt, Git 'R Done
Thanks,
Your loyal customer,
Errol

James,
I would like to second what some other TB'ers have said about Elricks. I think it would be great for you to offer them to the public. They are super basses that many of us really like. But, as long as you keep selling Roscoes, you will be alright.
Your new lifelong customer

Italia Guitars
Take a look at Italia Guitars www.italiaguitars.com
I don't believe that there are many dealers in the US plus they have a kinda of retro look that oozes with cool.

Hi Strokey,
We've been looking at Elrick for quite some time now, I've just been hesitant to take the plunge... I believe they live up to our expectations, however the demand we have seen for them has come in short bursts. About twice a year we get asked about them...and we need more than that to justify picking up the line.
Keep askin'! One day we'll listen!
Peace!

Maybe you could make sure that your products are listed correctly. For example the Spector EURO5 LX NAMM handpicked is listed as a neck thru bass when in the pictures it is clearly a bolt-on.

Sorry Derek, unfortunately, when you post every bass that comes in individually to make sure that when you order, it's the bass you see that you get, we do indeed make some typos...
See this page for more info on BYSIBYG: http://www.theperfectbass.com/bysibyg.cfm
