Thumbs up Tye Zamora - Alien Ant Farm

this CD rocks (anthology). everytime I take it out of the player, it goes right back in after a few songs of another band. anyone else have this problem? every song rocks, and the bass and drums are SO sweet.

in the smooth criminal video he's playing a Ken Lawrance 6.
in the movies video he's using his Dave Parr custom. he made the most of the bass himself.

I'm getting kinda tired of Smooth Criminal, but Movies is one of the best songs I've heard on the radio in a while. It's just so catchy. Is the rest of the album like Movies at all? I've heard that those are the only two good songs on the CD, the rest kinda blah. Because if it is I definitely plan on buying it.

Just a note: the Ken Lawrence is a 5-string, not a six. It's not important.............at all, I know........

Its not the best album i have heard lately, but its not the worst. One of the tracks is a Police type affair that works well. It tends to get a bit samey if you know what I mean. THey are excellent musicians and a band to watch out in case there is another album in the future.

All IMHO

Yes. Movies, much better than smooth criminal. Had it for about nine months now. Not tired of it. Musicianship is great. Zamora is okay, i mean he's got some good melodic lines. ANThology is not a great album but it is great to listen to IMO. I hope they do well and arent remembered as the band who covered smooth criminal.

I kinda got sick of that cd after a while because i just got the feeling like.. "Man... ive heard this crap before" whenever i listened to it. It was good at first and movies is a good song but i just kinda feel like this is just like every other song that gets played on comercial radio.

Anyone else like the old video for "Movies" better? I think the new one sucks. Its kinda cheesy. The old one was a lot cooler, IMO.

The new one looks like the singer needs to shave.

And by the way, the bass he is playing in Smooth Criminal is a Kenneth Lawrence Brase. Its a 5 string.

I was actually thinking about getting their cd. I like the Movies song too, it's very catchy. Should I save my bucks and just download the album or what?

I like every track, smooth criminal is gettin kinda old. but, if you like movies you'll like the album.

sorry, I thought it was a 6. I know the Dave Parr is a 6.

I've never seen the old video for movies, what was it like? I like the new one, its funny.

wow, seems like everyone is kind of ho hum about the album...I've been very happy with the purchase, I think the album's awesome! I've always been a hard rock/metal kind of guy, and I think its cool that these guys come along with something differnent to offer. the lyrics are kind of tounge and cheek nothing too serious. and the musicianship is totally cool. I'm stoked.

How can you compare either band

"Deftones and AAF"

Ugh. for a start Deftones are TERRIBLE TERRIBLE live. Chino can not sing to save his life. He can scream weakliy and whines a bit. Dryden is hardly Pavarotti but he can sing, and AAF are good live. Buy the album. I prefer it to all Deftones stuff. But that just my opinion.

Ugh

Yeah, Zamora's a pretty good bass player, my favorite AAF song is Flesh and Bone.

yeah, Deftones suck live. I like their albums and play the crap out of them, but live......maybe they need to tune back up the 3 steps they dropped and they might sound a little better.

thats another thing I like about AAF is that they still use standard tuning.

"Movies" was a great song, I haven't heard much of the other songs off the album. Its nice to hear a band that's not all about a gimmick or following a trend. They're pretty good songs in their own right, and Tye's a pretty damn good bassist to boot.

Smooth Criminal is pretty old though.
