MTD 735-24 - Michael Tobias Design custom 7 String Bass.
This bass was originally built for Guy Perrault. I am
the second owner. Everything on the bass is from the
factory, no mods whatsoever.
Body: Alder with Redwood Burl Top
The body is chambered and slightly
thicker than normal.
(Lends more overall depth to bass)
Neck: Maple with Rose of the Mountain Fingerboard
35" Scale with 24 frets, Buzz Feiten Tuning.
Trust rod is double acting and will adjust in both
directions using 4mm Allen wrench.
The neck and body were hand finished with an epoxy base
coat and catalyzed urethane topcoat.
Hardware:
Bridge and tuners are custom manufactured for MTD
by Hipshot.
Spacing at Bridge - 0.687 or 16mm
Electronics & Pickups: Custom Bartolini Pickups and Bartolini Preamp
The controls are: master volume and a pan pot, treble, mid bass cut and
boost with center click (from neck to bridge) The three
position switch has been replaced with a blend pot to mix
the Ghost piezo system into the eq. There is a push pull
pot on the mids that will select the mid frequency of 250
or 800. When the mid pot is at center click, the switch
has minimal effect. The eq has 2 batteries and is a +18
volt system. The knobs are custom
from the factory. Michael Tobias said they cost $30 a piece.
Tuned in fourths from low B to high F
A stunning bass! The great variety in EQ allows one to achieve tones
ranging from an aggressive metal attack to a richly textured
sound that is ideal for jazz. Please note some wear on the bass
above the pickups where your thumb would rest. This bass is
used but in great condition.
