somr pics. the mahogony, flamed maple bookmatch back (that didn't phot well). nrxt steps are to plane them to thickness, glue them, and hollow out the mahogany.

bloodwood for the neck came in the mail. not worth taking a pic of yet, because it is rough planed and a lil dirty. can't do any real work till tuesday, but the next thing going to be done, is get the mahogony and maple bookmatch back to thickness, and glue them up, then the holowing of the wings.
Been having trouble finding thin wood for the bloodwood and purpleheart accents, so i decided i will just cut a sliver out of the bloodwood and purpleheart used for the neck

Try www.rockler.com for thin pieces of bloodwood and purpleheart; that's where I got the 1/8" purpleheart for my first build.

that would be usefull for thin neck laminates, but not for this. i already decided it would work out to just shave some off of the thickness of the boards for the neck. i just need to find the ideal thickness

glue the back bookmatch on. the top is still at school cause it wasn't dry enough to take home. barrowed the router and i just routed out the lower wing. since it is uncontored, it is a lot simpler to figure out where to router. my friggin parents came out of nowhere to take pics of my working on the bass, and the router jumped and chipped up the top i keep telling them to leave me alone when i am working, esp. with power tools. it is not that big of a F*** up, because i am going to glue a top onto it. will just putty the holes, glue on the top, and there will only be an odd spec or to on the side that you could only find if you were actually looking for it.

At least your parents are interested and supportive. That is a fantastic thing, and not one to be dismissed.

OK.....here's an opportunity for you to take your lutherie skills to the next level.

Raise the bar on your expectations for this instrument, don't just go for the quick fix (wood putty has no place on a musical instrument), resist the urge to think to yourself "meh....good enough" just for the sake of moving on. Figure out a way to make the router screwup totally invisible....I mean, so invisible that no one could find it. Go through your options and make it happen, by any means necessary. Even though this is a personal instrument, you'll be bugged by each an every mistake that YOU can see because YOU know they're there.

IME it is a trait of all good luthiers that, when (not if) they make a mistake, they will either find a way to make it invisible, or trash the piece and start over. Don't shy away from holding yourself to a high standard, it will make you a better builder.

True. My parents wouldn't let me get even close to a router when I had your age if they would see what a "nice decoration" a sharp router bit could make to a finger or two!!

some minor problems. i can't get some within budget purpleheart for the neck and accent, so i am replacing them with walnut. i could not cut a sliver out of the bloodwood board for the accent, because there turned out to be small paracite holes and i thought i might ruin the piece. so i guess now the accent will be just walnut, and the core of the neck will be bloodwood and the sides of the neck walnut. on the good side, i made a bokkmatch of the bloodwood by accedent that should look cool

The holes are probably easily repairable; you get them all the time in cheap ebony. Just put a drop of superglue in the hole and start sanding the surface of the wood; it will fill up and dry within a few minutes (or less).

Add it to the fee. Your budget had assumed free use of the school facilities.
