Yeah, TB's own BillFitzmaurice [spelling?] has a site for just that. He knows what he's talking about.

http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/ of course; but if you check out the Emminance site you'll find specifications for enclosures. Have fun!

It may not be cheaper to build your own when you factor in all the small parts and shipping. You will often end up with a cab that's equivalent to a more expensive commercial cab. Whether you need that is another story.

If you assume your labor is free, then the pricing isn't bad. If, however, you worked those extra hours at your regular job and got paid, you'd probably never build your own.

If your goal is the equivalent of an Avatar or similar you'll end up paying at least as much if not more, so from a dollar and cents standpoint it's not worthwhile. OTOH if you're looking to do something at the AccuGroove end of the spectrum you'll come in 50 to 70% less via DIY.

I recently finished my first BFM cab (a sub actually) and it totally kicks! It ended up costing a bit more than I hoped but now I've got some supplies and tools that I can use for my next build so the cost will come down a bit as I build more.

Sound vs price, it blows away anything else I could find. I love it and my drummer can't stop smiling because now his kick drum can be heard and felt by everyone in the house. I love it.

It really depends on what your goals are. If you dont mind that your cab doesnt look like a commercial product, you can certainly save money. if you factor in corners, nice recessed handles, a decent finish, jack plates, etc, then you are likely better off ($) with a used ava/carv/PV/etc.

On the other hand, if you are willing to sacrifice traditional looks and can "scrounge" some parts, you can save a lot.

I think it worthwhile to at least consider the "Cost" of your time, as well as the "benefit" of the hobby/DIY factor.
