I have two now - I really like these Basses - could just be that I have not tried any other 6 Strings - but the way these play and sound have won me over and I am still under $1000 for both of them so how can I can complain there.

I always liked the Bubinga finish (I like natural finishes) - but when I was looking I found an Amberburst and had to get it - kept looking and just found this. Gonna drop a few of my 4's that are not getting any love (with the exception of my P-Bass - cause I just crave that sound) to cover the expense.

I really want a Euro Model 6 - but can't drop the $1500 to $2000 they are going for used. So I am sticking with the Legends for now - they a get a good range of sounds - sit great in the mix and having the extended range - just opens up more musical possibilities for me - it is over kill in a traditional supportive Groove Bass role - but being able to express more and have more range is what appeals to me overall. I love playing on the B String too - and have that option to play low E there and walk up to low E is a cool thang.

I had to do some searching to get mine as well.

Every now and then I think about upgrading the electronics, but then decide that it sound great as is. That said, if the made a Legend Custom 6, I wouldn't look back.

I just hope Spector re-release the Professional 4 classic in Holoflash because I can't find one within my reach anywhere.

I also have one of the early Legend 4's with the P/J pups and the gold hardware and that Bass has tone for days!

Here's my NS5XL:

I think the Tone Pump has been replaced with an EMG pre but wondered if there's a definitive thread somewhere that discusses other pre or pickup options?

Basically I love the bass from a sheer playability aspect but I find the sound a bit 'one-dimesional' and compressed.

Might be nice to have something with a 3 band eq option but not sure if there's a way to do this without drilling nasty holes!

OK, Spector #4 is on the way from ShawnStones. Natural Euro LX that I'm going to have refinished into a tobacco sunburst. Thinking about black hardware as well.

Nothing compares to a Spector. Even Spector's take on a Jazz bass (USA BOB) still sounds Spector-ish. Someday if I get the loot, I'll have a USA NS-6XL w/ exotic top and piezos!

In the mean time, these are my keepers! (Both SSDs):
