There are Altered Tunnings, and Droped tunning. (Of course there are more terms, but wont explain here.)
An Altered tunning is like Michael Manring uses, he choosed the keys for his string tunnings.
Now a Dropped tunning is jus lowering the pitch of a standard tunning.

If we say Dropped-D it goes like this.
E = D (You lower the note 1 whole step)
A = A
D = D
G = G

Other Whole Dropped tunnings are like this:
Dropped Eb tunning
E =Eb (You lower the note 1/2 step)
A =G# (You lower the note 1/2 step)
D =C# (You lower the note 1/2 step)
G =F# (You lower the note 1/2 step)

Get the point??
