new tone

i have played bass for a wile i have a variety of basses and amps and that is because i cant find the tone i wont to here lets start with my 98 stingray and svt i own no effects the speaker cabs. are am peg 2/12w/h 1/15bw i saw a guy play stink fist on YouTube that's the tone i Ben wanting to here will anyone help me find that sound of tool or rage against the machine eq. setting. strings.any reply cooed only help.i am in a rut

I think this guy is recording direct and is not going through an amp. You can see his headphones... So he's not listening to an amp.

You can approximate that tone with most any quality amp by scooping out some mids and boosting lows/highs and maybe driving your preamp fairly hot.
