Let's play... Rate the Dummy!

This is the first time I've played around with making bass body mockups. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about each.

See below for all designs.

The first two, although cool in my view, are likely going to result in mondo neckdive...

1 and 2 remind me of a cartoon cow's head.
3 isn't bad.

Definitely #3 But I would lengthen it and make the top horn a little smaller.

Thank you all for indulging my creative process. Hopefully, this is going somewhere, when I get some cherry wood from my brother.

Here are all the designs, some are not so good. IMO, 5,6,7,11,18,19 are the most workable. What do you think?

Every one looks unbalanced in both aesthetics and physics. #18 could be a quality instrument with refinement.

There appears to be zero symmetry with these designs and my guess is that they are drawn with an abstract approach. I would suggest a french curve set and piecing together defined lines and aesthetically balanced body segments to create a winning shape.

These designs are lacking. You need to think about why each curve or angle is placed where it is, and then you'll get somewhere. The curve on the bottom side(in playing form) should be formed with resting it on a knee in mind, should you decide to sit. The horn should reach out and grab your strap at just the right point to balance the neck dive. ETC...
For now, keep working at it. Learn to draw the most popular shapes and modify them where you think they need improvement. Do this to all your favorite production(or non-production) basses and you'll figure out where to take your design from there. You've got to start somewhere, and you're probably halfway closer to making it happen than most bass players.

18 is definately the most pleasing to me. While looking through most of them I thought to myself "huh? Why? What on earth is that?"...but when I got to 18 I thought "that could actually be really awesome"

Thats because 18 looks the most like a fender

i like it, a bit of a warped P bass with a cutaway in the back, though it could have troubles standing up

Not true at all. I think 5 and 7 look closer to Fenders but number 18 just looks awesome.

With that cutaway bit at the bottom, it would make a great headless. It reminds me of something but I can't quite place it.
