Is this a real hofner bass

This is something for the hofner specialists around here.
Please take a look at this page: http://link.marktplaats.nl/291158665

I've got a nice offer on this bass, but something tells me there is maybe more wrong than only the tuning keys and the control knobs.

Those pickups, aren't that the guitar pickups of hofner?

This bass does have 21 frets (not counting the zero fret). Other Hofner cavern basses I saw had more, I think.

Looks like 50s models I've seen. Absolutely gorgeous.

It's a 60 or 61, 500/1. The tuners and the volume knobs are not original. Everything else looks good from the photos.

Thx for the info. I'll buy the bass (could fix a fair deal with the seller). I'll have it in two weeks.

Yeah, that looks totally real deal to me- late 50's/early 60s (pre- beatles era). I've got a 1964 Senator bass on the way, so we'll both be waiting for old Hofners at the same time.
